Keynote lecture title:Innovative low Carbon techniques for ground improvement

Prof. Songyu Liu is the Chair Professor at the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering, Southeast University (SEU). His research interests and major technical contributions have been in the areas of ground improvement, in-situ testing, and geo-environmental engineering. Dr. Liu has developed a new generation of high-precision in-situ testing technology, established the principle of variable cross-section bidirectional mixing, and developed intelligent construction methods. Recently, he invented a series of carbon sequestration technologies for ground improvements. Dr. Liu has published over 300 peer-reviewed journal articles and led more than 30 key research grants and projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and various enterprises. He is the recipient of the National Innovation Award, the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Advisor, and the MAO Yisheng Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Award. His accolades also include the second prize of the National Technological Invention Award, the second prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, and the R. M. Quigley Award from Canadian Geotechnical Journal. Dr. Liu serves as the Chair of the Jiangsu Society for Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering, Vice-Chair of the Chinese Institution of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, and Vice-Chair of the Foundation Engineering Branch of the Architectural Society of China.
