The Inaugural Geotechnical Engineering Innovation Contest (GEIC)
About the GEIC:
The Inaugural Geotechnical Engineering Innovation Contest (GEIC) aims to engage master's and doctoral students globally in fostering innovation and showcasing cutting-edge developments in geotechnical engineering. This international student competition focus on the development or improvement of experimental or in-situ test equipment, innovative numerical simulation method improvements, and software development or secondary development.
Competition Details:
- Date and Time: May 28, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:40 PM.
- Location: Diamond Ballroom D, GeoShanghai International Conference Venue, Shanghai.
- Participating Teams: 8 teams from China, the United States, Germany, and other regions.
- Presentation Schedule: Each team will deliver a 12-minute presentation, followed by a Q&A session with our distinguished panel of judges. The presentation order will be determined by a live draw at the venue.
- Poster Session: Teams will showcase their innovations in posters, displayed in Diamond Ballroom C for peer feedback and additional judge evaluation.
- Audience Participation: Attendees are encouraged to actively engage during both the presentation and poster sessions. Interactive participants will be eligible for special gifts.
- Awards and Recognition: Prizes include a first prize, a second prize, and two third prizes, along with certificates and trophies.
Judging Criteria:
- Innovation (35%): Originality in technical, theoretical, or methodological approach.
- Scientific Significance (20%): Impact on scientific, theoretical, and engineering fields.
- Technical Difficulty (15%): Complexity of design and implementation.
- Practicality (10%): Real-world applicability of the solution.
- Presentation Quality (10%): Effectiveness of the presentation delivery and visual materials.
- Student Contributions: The judges will specifically evaluate the personal contributions of students, ensuring that presentations reflect their individual efforts and innovations.
